To be paid the above amounts you must conform to EVERYTHING below:
Under 12 $19.00 $12.00 2 halves x 30

1) Be USSF certified in the current year.
2) Be wearing the current USSF patch on the left chest pocket. (velcro it on)
3) Be wearing a yellow USSF referee shirt. All 3 referees shirts should match.
(The alternates are black, red, blue, green)
4) Be wearing black shorts.
5) Be wearing black socks with 3 white stripes at the top. (MUST BE PULLED UP)
6) Be wearing black shoes.
7) Be wearing a stopwatch. (black is recommended)
8) Be carrying red and yellow cards in card holder with score sheets. (Turn score sheets
in to the YMCA representative after games)
9) Be carring a whistle. (2 whistles are recommended)
10) Referees assistant flags are very HIGHLY recommended.
11) Referees should NOT wear head gear. (Only all black caps for medical purposes are
allowed on sunny days only)
For All Referees on Gameday
1) Fill out the score sheet for each game.
2) Be at your game(s) at least 10 minutes before game time to check each team and the
game field.
3) Go over the coaches/referee game card with the coaches prior to the game.
4) GAMES MUST START ON TIME
5) Turn in score sheets to the YMCA representative after games.
6) Read the job description for referees.
1) Coaches will shake hands with each other prior to
the start of the game.
2) Game official will bring coaches together before
each game and discuss the expectations of
sportsmanship from the players, parents/fans,
and that of the coaches.
3) Players will form a line at the end of the game and
shake hands with each other.

General Function:
Officiating is an area of expertise which requires a knowledge of the game and stategy of sports in
order to control the behavioral responses of players, coaches and spectators. The officials
responsibility is to enforce the rules impartially and control the contest so that the players are afforded a
positive game experience. The officials display self-confidence and a professional attitude/dress while officiating.
Official Etiquette:
1) Arrive 15 minutes prior to game time to check the equipment and playing field/court.
2) Be neat and wear your official outfit and have a whistle.
3) Meet with other officials before the start of the game to clarify responsibilities.
4) Do not comment on another official's decisions unless he/she requests your assistance.
5) Tactfully discuss questionable calls when it is convenient to consult with the other official.
6) If you are questioned about the other officials call, never publicly disagree. Simply state that it was the other officials call.
7) Be consistant - a team can adjust to a consistant official. This will make your job easier.
8) Appear confident in your decisions: a team will notice indecisiveness and begin to question all decisions.
9) Remember that the contest is under your control from start to finish, including time outs, half time, etc.
10) Control your temper - a calm official gains respect.
Pre Game Responsibilities:
1) Introduce yourdelf to the other ofiicial(s) and discuss duties and interpretations of rules.
2) See that the timing devices are in working order.
3) Check the game ball to see if it is properly inflated and is appropriate for the age division.
4) Introduce yourself to the coaches and players before the game.
5) Before the start of the game, make sure the other official is ready.
During the Game:
1) Take time to explain the calls instead of just asserting them. An official can be a teacher as well as a judge.
2) Enforce the rules without partiality.
3) Be confident in your decision-making process.
4) Be calm when questioned about your decisions.
5) Remember you and your fellow official(s) are a team.
Post Game Responsibilities:
1) Have the two opposing teams line up and shake hands at the end of the game.
2) Secure the game ball.
3) Make sure all game reports are filled out and returned in to the appropriate place.
General Techniques:
1) Keep a current copy of the rules where it is accessible at all times during the contest.
2) Carry a coin for the pre game toss.
3) Do not talk with the whistle in your mouth, as this makes it difficult to be understood.
4) Be sure all signals are clearly visible to the players, coaches and spectators, so that they immediately understand the call.
5) If you have any problems with the coaches, spectators or players inform the YMCA Sports Director or Official Coordinator.
6) In the event of accident or injury the official should have the coach contact the parents and the YMCA Sports Director.
Physical Requirements:
1) Physical requirements of this position include: running, jogging, walking and stooping.

2011 USSF Referee certification class in the fall 2010 - For NEW referees (at the Crockett Park meeting room by the tennis courts & field #1) Cost is $73, to be paid at the class. Dates: Fri. Aug 20 (7:00-9:00pm), Sat. Aug 21 (8:30am - 5:30pm) & Sun. Aug 22 (1:00-6:00pm) -Referees must attend all 3 days to get certified. (You will be certified for the rest of 2010 and all of 2011)

LATE USSF Referee re-certification class for 2009 - For current 2008 USSF referees Date: Sun. Feb. 1, 2009 (1-6pm) (at the Crockett Park meeting room by the tennis courts & field #1) Cost is $83.00 ($68.00 plus $15.00 late re-certification fee), to be paid at the class. *All 2008 referees must attend 1 class to get re-certified for 2009. If you do not make it to a re-certification class you will need to go through the full new referee certification class again.

Feb. 5 (7:00-9:00pm), Sat. Feb. 6 (8:30am - 5:30pm) & Sun. Feb. 7 (1:00-6:00pm) -Referees must attend all 3 days to get certified.
